We represent the sportfishing community

Join us or renew your membership to support our work

Northwest Steelheaders is a grassroots organization that relies on small contributions from conservation-minded anglers like you to fund our advocacy and education work. When you join us or renew your membership today, you’re taking action to protect the future of steelhead, salmon, and trout fishing in the Pacific Northwest.

We are dedicated to protecting and restoring our coldwater fisheries, increasing fishing opportunities, and welcoming new anglers into the sportfishing community. Northwest Steelheaders fights for lower Snake River dam removal, Columbia River management reform, well-managed hatcheries, sea lion removal, and clean water—to name just a few of our recent advocacy campaigns. We boast a 60-year history of working to enhance and protect salmon and steelhead populations in Oregon and Washington.

Our organization represents recreational anglers, not just to lobby for policy changes that will improve salmon and steelhead runs from the top down, but to help the sportfishing community thrive from the ground up.

We support our local guides, teach underprivileged families and veterans how to fish, offer clinics for both novice and experienced anglers, and educate schoolchildren about the salmon lifecycle. We run the Letz Creek hatchery to support winter steelhead populations in the Siuslaw River. We clean up rivers, repair boat launches, and restore habitat.

If you’re interested in getting involved with a fishing group that offers both regional advocacy influence and a deep connection to local waters, Northwest Steelheaders is for you.
