Tualatin Valley Chapter Spring Chinook Tournament Recap

The Association of Northwest Steelheaders' Tualatin Valley Chapter hosted another successful Spring Chinook Tournament on June 20, bringing together more than 50 anglers and captains aboard 14 boats for a day of friendly competition on the water.

Despite challenging fishing conditions, participants landed an impressive 13 spring Chinook throughout the tournament.

Congratulations to Team Moonshine Bandits, led by Nigel Hearne and joined by Derek Larsen and Mike Ferris, who swept the competition by earning Most Fish Caught by a Boat with three Chinook and Highest Average Fish Inches Per Angler.

Dee Wallace, fishing aboard The Underdog, landed the tournament's biggest fish—a beautiful 35-inch Chinook—earning a $100 Fisherman's Marine gift card.

Congratulations also to Linda Lavender, who caught the tournament's second-largest fish(see header image) while keeping everyone refreshed with her creative beverages throughout the day. All teams hydrated responsibly!

After a string of tough outings, Jeff Hernandez(left) and Chris Dunn(right) got their mojo working aboard El Jefe, boating two Chinook to cap off a memorable day on the river.

A special thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make this year's tournament another outstanding Tualatin Valley Chapter led event. The camaraderie, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm that continue to make these gatherings a highlight of the fishing season are at the heart of the NW Steelheaders community. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the water next year!
