On September 14, members of the Oregon and Washington Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucuses got a firsthand look at what Columbia River fisheries mean to anglers and adjacent communities during the 4th annual Columbia River Fishing Day.
The event brought legislators, fish and wildlife agencies, sporting organizations, anglers, and community members together for a day of fishing and discussion about the future of the river. This year we hosted more than 22 legislators and policy staff with 16 boat captains and deck hands volunteering their time and efforts for the day.

NW Steelheaders Join Forces to Clean Up the Clackamas River
Members of the Association of Northwest Steelheaders from the Clackamas River, Sandy River and Tualatin Valley chapters were among 161 volunteers for this year’s Down the River Cleanup, helping remove nearly 3,000 pounds of garbage and recycling from a 22-mile stretch of the Clackamas River and Clackamette Cove.

The Hot Water Report provides real-time data in the lower Snake and Columbia river reservoirs to detail the collective impacts of hot, stagnant, and toxic water on salmon and steelhead.
BREAKING NEWS: Toxic algal blooms have been detected in the lower Snake River for the fourth consecutive year.
On September 18, the Washington Department of Ecology’s Freshwater Algae Control Program released preliminary toxin-level results for the Lower Granite Reservoir, which are above the state's recreational guidance.
On September 23, Whitman County Public Health issued a Health Advisory because of toxic algae present in the Snake River. The bloom was found intermittently along the river between Blyton Landing and Little Goose Dam. READ ON
