Mark your calendar now for the NW Steelheaders “For Greater Opportunity” Banquet!

On Friday, November 17th from 6 to 9 PM at the Milwaukie Elks Lodge (13121 SE McLoughlin Blvd., Oak Grove, Oregon) we are bringing back all the fun and opportunity to get together to support the Association and the Chapters.

We will be highlighting the accomplishments of our chapters and the advocacy and support the Association provides to make their efforts possible.

Imagine yourself battling a powerful and aggressive steelhead or reeling in a keeper chinook salmon down at the coast, fresh from the ocean. These are guides that know their way around and can get the job done. These trips offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with nature and experience the thrill of fishing in our amazing Oregon waters with experts in their field.

Right now, we have trips for two, three, or four people in various beautiful locations around Oregon. These trips will be available via our online raffle. The drawing will take place on November 17th at the Hall of Fame Banquet, or when all tickets for all trips are sold. Winners will be contacted by ANWS and will be announced via email to all those who purchased a ticket after the drawing has occurred.

Handicapped Fishing Platform Life Extended

Steelheaders from the Tualatin Valley, Sandy, and McLoughlin Chapter combined to work on the handicapped fishing platform on the Tillamook River for ODFW. The platform provides access for anglers in wheelchairs and walkers to fish for fall chinook, coho, and catch and release sturgeon.

This ramp is one of two handicapped ramps on the north coast of Oregon. These repairs allow
for access to fish until ODFW can get money to build a new heavy duty platform.

Emerald Empire - Chapter Updates

We have moved our 2023 Brood of Winter Steelhead to our natural earthen pond after fin clipping.  We collected and fertilized the eggs in February; incubated, hatched, moved them into circulars to be fed, and earlier this month we fin clipped them.

Now for the first time in their lives, they are swimming free in a very natural setting where they will grow and develop pending their release into Letz Creek the first of April. Following their release, they will continue to the Siuslaw River and spend 2 years in the salt water in the Pacific.

Chapter Meetings

A few chapters have resumed Monthly Chapter Meetings in-person, and we hope to get everyone meeting as soon as possible! To get more detailed meeting information please visit our Events Calendar. If you're having trouble finding a meeting you can attend, please reach out to us at office@anws.org and we'll help you out. As always, Chapter Meetings are free and open to the public. If you're new to Northwest Steelheaders, attending a meeting is a great first step to getting more involved with your local fishing community.
