Steelhead Fishing 101 Workshop

Learn all of the basics of steelhead fishing in the Sandy River Chapter’s full-day workshop for beginning anglers! There will be both classroom teaching and hands-on training at the River in Glenn Otto Community Park, Troutdale. Our expert anglers are excited to introduce you to the fishing community!
7:45am: Volunteer Sign-In & Orientation

9:00am: Welcome, introductions, and overview of the event
9:10am: Oregon’s Outdoor Skills Workshops & Events
9:15am: Steelhead: What are they? Where do you find them?
9:25am: Morning snack
9:30am – 12:00pm: Station Rotations
- Station 1: Casting – what to bring & wear
- Station 2: Knot tying
- Station 3: Rods, reels, and rigging
12:00pm – 12:40pm: Lunch
12:40pm – 2:30pm: Station Rotations
- Station 1: Drift fishing
- Station 2: Float fishing
- Station 3: Spinner & Spoon fishing
2:30pm: Afternoon snack
2:40pm: Afternoon check-in, questions, and how to take care of your catch
3:05pm: Door prizes
3:15pm: Navigating Oregon’s fishing regulations and license requirements
3:25pm: On-the-water session logistics
3:45pm: Station Rotation
