Hatchery & Wild Coexist Campaign Presentation

November 14 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Hosted by Hatchery & Wild Coexist and the Association of Northwest Steelheaders Tualatin Valley Chapter.

Do agency fishery scientists and policy makers recognize hatcheries as an important tool in wild fish recovery?

Yes. According to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, “Fish hatcheries have become an important tool in restoring and conserving the state’s wild, naturally-spawning salmon and steelhead populations.”

They go on to say, “Hatcheries are viewed by fishery scientists and policy makers as integral tools for the restoration of wild runs that have dwindled because of habitat degradation or other factors.”
