Save the Steelhead, Letter to the Oregon Delegation

Oregon’s upper Willamette River wild winter steelhead are in serious trouble – and they desperately need immediate help. The Association of Northwest Steelheaders sent a letter to Oregon Delegation asking them to heed recommendations of scientists at both the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and National Marine Fisheries Service and to work with their colleagues and federal and state fish and wildlife managers to amend the Marine Mammal Protection Act to provide managers with effective and timely means to reduce predation on vulnerable salmon and steelhead populations.

We urge action now, before upper Willamette wild steelhead face the same fate as the functionally extinct run of wild steelhead to Lake Washington/Cedar River basin. Please contact your legislatures in Oregon and Washington.
